In this year’s edition of Fashion Talks, FAC are presenting three women who curate, collect and talk fashion beyond current tastes. Meri Fatin returns to host these nights and gain keen insight into the worlds of these women.
The talks are run over three evenings in August. Doors open 7pm for the talk at 7:30pm. Tickets $15 or $30 for the season.
Charlotte Smith: Friday 3 August
Charlotte is custodian of Australia’s largest, private fashion collection, the Darnell Collection of International Vintage Couture. From 1720 to today, there are pieces from Dior, Balenciaga and Westwood. A selection from the Darnell Collection will be on display.
Dr Gene Sherman: Tuesday 7 August
Gene is Chairman and Executive Director of the Sherman Contemporary Arts Foundation in Sydney, and is a curator, collector and philanthropist. She maintains a wardrobe of current, Japanese fashion and her wardrobe is integral to her public persona. A sample of her collection will be on display.
Karen Quinlan: Tuesday 14 August
Karen is the Director of the Bendigo Art Gallery, who put on the blockbuster exhibitions Grace Kelly: Style Icon, The Golden Age of Couture and The White Wedding Dress, presented in partnership with the Victoria and Albert Museum London. These exhibitions have but Bendigo on the map as a destination for the arts.
