I was the lucky invited speaker at an event hosted by Travelling Divas - a brisbane based tour company offering exclusive and high-end tours for women travelling on their own. The afternoon was called "Cupcakes and Couture".
Tamara and Jamie look stunning in Madeline Vionnet (1930s) and Helen Rose (1950s). The theme of my talk was "Empowering Women in Fashion". I chose Vionnet whose business practices in the 20s and 30s were exemplary and of course for her stunningly feminine gowns and fresh approach to fashion design. I also chose Rose as I felt her successful business approach in male dominated Hollywood in the 50s showed how resilient she was yet able to create lovely, feminine dresses for actresses and stars of that era. (She also designed Grace Kelly's wedding dress). The Observatory Hotel was a perfect venue for a bit of afternoon glamour.
