Melbourne Writers Festival - "Dressed for Murder" talk

These stunning photographs were taken by Festival photographer, Carla Gottgens.

On Saturday, I hosted a talk featuring vintage fashion perfect for a 50s Hitchcock film. Seven models wore designer outfits, complete with handbags and jewellery, gloves - of course - some with sunglasses perfect for Grace Kelly in 'To Catch a Thief 'and others with tailored dresses Kim Novak would have loved to wear in 'Vertigo'. The theatre was packed with enthusiasts and after a talk about the collection, Doris and my books, the models were introduced one by one by Penelope Sai's beautiful singing.

Bought from La Petite on Collins St in the 50s Vanessa looked like the perfect 50s woman, perfectly groomed and accessoriesed.

Dresses on display included this stunning lime green and melon chiffon cocktail dress by Helen Rose, MGM's costume designer and creator of Princess Grace's wedding dresses.

A super sleek Dorothy O'Hara evening dress

A beautiful silk satin wedding dress recently donated to the collection by Marion Butcher.

Flanked by 7 beautiful models: Tully, Bianca, Ariana, Lauren, Claudia, Carla, Vanessa. I am wearing a 70s wool Prue Acton dress.

Such a stylish audience. Diane Masters, Alison Waters and Nicole Jenkins from Circa Vintage also came to the talk.
