Dreaming of Chanel launched at Vampt Vintage Design in Sydney

Dressed in a 'new' vintage 50s cocktail dress by Dorothy O'Hara (bought from my favourite on-line vintage shop, Rice & Beans), I was thrilled to see so many friends and colleagues turn up to help Grant Cowan and I launch our new book, Dreaming of Chanel. Guest arrived to be greated to a 'MadMan' installation: models dressed in vintage couture from the mid 20th century sitting in or lying on vintage couture furniture. Adrian Franklin was there too, looking seriously cool dressed in vintage men's couture, as my guest for the second year in a row. Adrian gave a great speech about fashion and furniture and how they interconnection is so fascinating when looking at iconic styles from the mid 20th century. Following our talks, 8 stunning models paraded in dresses straight from the pages of the book and Sidney, our West Highland White, walked off the front cover and down the red carpet. Vintage dresses never  looked so stylish and in such a perfect setting than at Vampt Vintage Design, the best designer 20th century furniture store I know. And only the best in designer furniture for our beautiful models: a model wearing a fab 60s Mary Quant leotard reclined in a Ball Chair from the 50s while another model wearing a butter soft leather pant suit from the 60s lounged perfectly in a classic leather Ox Chair from the same decade. It was a fabulous evening and full of great people, wonderful clothes, furniture, the best wine from Robert Stein Winery and beautiful nibbles. Of course, it was one of the most stylish evenings I had the pleasure to be involved in!!
