DARNELL COLLECTION TO APPEAR ON COLLECTORS AUGUST 6TH, ABC1 TV, AUSTRALIA

Watch for the Darnell Collection and Charlotte on ABC1 TV's Collectors on August 6th at 8pm. In May, just before my first jaunt to the US to promote Dreaming of Dior, I had an all day filming session with Jackie O'Toole, a producer at Collectors, a cameraman and soundman, and 4 work experience students. I was filmed talking about my aspirations for the collection, working with students, choosing designer dresses from the racks and gently pulling out antique dresses from storage boxes.

This is my third time on Collectors – a real honour. I have to thank everyone at Collectors for their incredible support – they have taken my collection under their wing and promoted it on national TV to help raise public awareness of the its importance. It was such a fun day. I enjoy TV work and love the opportunity to work with film crews. Please, please may I have my own show one day soon..!

HERE IS THE PREVIEW FROM THE COLLECTORS WEBSITE:
We arrive at one of the greatest collections in Australia. When Charlotte Smith inherited her godmother Doris Darnell’s entire wardrobe, she had no idea of the scale, quality and provenance of the collection of which she had just become custodian. Doris had amassed not just exquisite outfits from the late 1700s to the 20th century, but also the documented stories of the women who wore them, and in some cases the events to which they had been worn. Charlotte now has the full-time responsibility of maintaining a precious resource that goes way beyond being a record of changing fashions. The Darnell Collection is an irreplaceable piece of history, with thousands of stories to tell.
